Samples of "Genius Of Love" by Tom Tom Club (Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads are two notable members of that outfit) have long made their way into pop and hip-hop track, from Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" to tracks by Public Enemy and Cam'ron*. When we first got our hands on Le Chev's rework of Passion Pit's longtime RCRD LBL jam "Sleepyhead", we knew that he had gotten some real magic into it. Without directly sampling "Genius Of Love", he's interwoven the same '80s dance club/R&B vibe, reminiscent of what we love about Tom Tom Club, but still totally his own. We've seen his adept refitting before on his version of Frankie Rose And The Outs' "Candy", so we're pretty psyched that he'll be coming out with his solo joint in early 2011 as Avan Lava.

(*That Cam song is called "Me, My Moms & Jimmy" and, yes, it does feature Mama Cam swapping verses with her son and Jim Jones.)

Carlos Pesina de 21 años, es un productor de música electrónica originario de Guadalajara. Hace música bajo dos seudónimos: Pepepe y Pesina Siller. El primero es una aplicación de la música electrónica más explorativa hacia el pop: sonidos de gameboy, beats de baja calidad, y ocasionalmente vocales de colaboradores. Pesina Siller es su proyecto enfocado hacia el techno, ambient, arte sonoro, etc. En el 2008, junto con el productor de drum & bass Rifhes, fundó el netlabel www.geekcore.tk dedicado a publicar música tapatía de recámara. Ese mismo año fue seleccionado como participante por la Red Bull Music Academy en Barcelona y participó en festivales de arte digital como el MOD (Monitor de Arte Digital) y en la décima edición del festival Chroma. Cuenta con 4 discos publicados en los sellos mexicanos Poni Republic, Lalala4e, Amp-recs y Geekcore, además, sus tracks han aparecido en más de 8 compilados, entre los que destacan el primer CD del sello Happy Garlic y el 4to vinilo de la disquera inglesa Imminent Recordings.
